The Summer Seasonal feast was a great success, with 16 people enjoying an extraordinary seven course meal.
To accompany our feast we supported young classical singer Lana Kains to perform for us. Lana, 18, is studying a Bachelor of Music at the Hobart Conservatorium and is a rising star in the opera world. She is a recipient of the Elizabeth Wade Tasmania University Scholarship in Music and recent winner of the Joshua Cooper Memorial Award and the Cecil Trowbridge Memorial Award. She was a soloist for Gondwana Voices during their 2012 China tour, their 2013 Kimberlys tour and their 2014 Taiwan tour. In 2014 she was involved in a tour to France and Belgium with the Hutchins and Collegiate combined choir who represented Australia at the dawn service at Villers-Bretonneux. In 2015 she performed as soloist with the Gondwana Centenary Chorale in Sydney’s Government house.
This meal was the first in a seasonal series. For us, these meals are about connecting people through amazing food and wine, and the art of hand crafting – in this case, food – with any surplus funds going towards the fund. The next feast will be at the end of April.
